This Lowveld 9-hole golf course is a product of the Gary Player Design Company. It offers a refreshing balance between challenge and playability. In other words, the Kruger Park Lodge golf course is not an ultra-tough course, which was designed to torment the average player and cost him or her a dozen lost balls. But it is also not so easy as to make a mockery of par.
The accent is on relaxation and enjoyment, allowing for just enough 'bite', to come away with a sense of achievement after playing to one's handicap. The 1st hole is a forgiving par-four, while the 2nd is more demanding, with a long approach to a well-trapped green. A dam to the right of this hole affords the golfer compelling views of crocodiles and hippos, which lie on the edge, basking int the sun. This is Africa at its best.
Water guards the green at the par-five 3rd, the 4th is a shortish par-four and the 5th, a par-three, offers an exquisite view across Hazyview and through the valley towards Sabi. The 6th is a gentle par-four and the 7th is a punishing par-three, where the tee shot must clear a large stretch of water.
Care has been taken to preserve the natural beauty of the area and azaleas, bougainvilleas and a host of indigenous plants provide colororful areas on the Kruger Park Lodge golf course.
